Departure Productions

Departure adds another short comedy to its repetoir with Breaking Up, a pair of sketches which offer a humorous look at two couples calling it quits.

We’ve entered Breaking Up into SuperU.ca’s $10,000 short comedy contest, so please help us win by taking a few moments to log in to SuperU and rate the video five stars.  Most of our other comedic shorts are also entered into the contest, and you can find them all here.

We’d just like to note that you can now navigate to our website at both http://www.departure-productions.com/ and http://www.departureproductions.com/ — whoever was sitting on the URL without the hyphen has dropped it after almost a decade, and we were able to snap it up.

We’d also like to note that there is a Departure Productions account on MySpace which is not us.  They are a music promotion group from the states, and so far are small enough that there isn’t really much of a conflict with them using our name.  Nonetheless, we’d like to point out that anything you see them produce is in no way connected to this Departure Productions, Victor Couwenbergh, or anyone directly connected with us.

Our short video “The Stakeout” featuring Chris Moor as Detective Cuff ‘Em Valentine aired on Super Channel Tuesday February 24 at 9:30 pm EST.  There was an all-new 30 second introduction video with Cuff ‘Em and Victor Couwenbergh which played immediately before The Stakeout. Happy holidays from Departure Productions! We’re pleased to announce yet another new short video just in time for Christmas!

The new short, entitled The Night Before Greedmas, is a rewrite of the classic Christmas poem, and stars Shannon Couwenbergh as a little girl who is a bit too anxious for Christmas to arrive. It is a simple reminder that giving our time is more valuable than giving presents. Also, it features my dad in a funny wig and a mustache, so it is a must see just for that!

Departure Productions has completed yet another short film and entered it into a superu.ca contest!  Yard Sale stars the ever-zany Kevin Moorcroft as an amateur sports enthusiast who is excited about receiving his new skis in the mail.  Also featured in the short is Gordon Poth Jr, who plays Kevin’s roomate and who has reservations about the quality of Kevin’s online purchase.

It’s a Happy Halloween indeed for Departure Productions!

We’re pleased to announce that our zombie video, The Tragic Death of Spineless Toady, has won SuperU.ca’s “The Horror” contest! This is our second winning film on that site, and we’d like to thank all our incredibly active fans for rating our video highly and propelling it to the top spot. Our zany little comedy beat out some genuinely spooky films in that contest, so be sure to check out the other contestants if you’re looking for some extra creepy videos this evening.

Departure Productions is pleased to announce that our short film The Stakeout has won a contest for the best Film Noir on SuperU.ca! Despite stiff competition, our short video featuring Chris Moor was the highest rated video in the Film Noir contest. We’d like to thank all our fans and all the SuperU.ca users that voted for us during the contest, as well as the staff of SuperU.ca for working hard to create a great online forum for Canadian independent filmmakers.

The Stakeout is a short, comedic Film Noir starring Chris Moor as Cuff ‘Em Valentine, the gumshoe detective from our feature film Maggot Man. It can be seen here.

The hard work and dedication of our editors has paid off for 9/11 first responders in New York City. We cut together a piece entitled Respond, a short, 7 minute compilation which depicts the health effects of the toxic dust from the World Trade Center collapse on 9/11 first responders. These heroes volunteered their time after the terrorist attacks on 9/11, and are now paying the ultimate price.
